Missouri City, TX, Roof Replacement
On this home in Missouri City, TX, this roof was in need of replacement due to extensive hail damage from a storm that blew through earlier in the year. We removed the old layer of 30-year shingles, felt paper, and the old roof jacks. Once the decking was uncovered, we inspected the decking for any damage or rot. We found a couple of small places of rot around some roof jacks and replaced those areas with new decking to ensure a sound base for the new roof.
We also removed the air hawks that were used to ventilate the attic and patched the holes with new decking. We installed new 30 pound felt paper on the decking and Owens Corning WeatherLock in the valleys. Once the new underlayment was installed, we then installed Owens Corning TruDefinition shingles in the color of Driftwood which carries a lifetime warranty, an upgrade from the old 30 year shingle that was on the house before.
As we installed the new shingles, we installed new step flashing as needed as well as new lead roof jacks, replacing the old plastic ones that were installed originally. Once we reached the peak of the roof, we upgraded their ventilation from the old AirHawks to the Owen Corning Ventsure Ridge Vents as well as added 2 SunRise Solar Inc. solar powered vents (one above the garage and one on the back of the house).
After completing the install of the ridge vents we then finished the installation of the roof by installing the color matching ridge caps on all ridges and painted all roof accessories to blend with the roof color.
